In 2019/20 Eden NE provided key inputs to the development of a Gate A/B paper. This work was commissioned through an RWM-led IPT to consider options for the future management of the UK's vitrified HLW currently stored on the Sellafield site. Eden NE led and coordinated the work, which involved Eden NE using previous regulatory knowledge and experience to deliver a report on the regulatory landscape and which became a cornerstone of the Gate paper. The scope was particularly complex, due to the large number of options available and the very long timeframes involved (over 120 years in some cases). The work was well received by the Integrated Project Team (IPT) and key stakeholders.
